Many people have contacted me to let me know that Media Center Studio, which we had previously previously produced an article and video guide for, no longer worked after a Windows Update made by Microsoft.
Fortunately the enterprising users of The Green Button Forum were able to track down the problem and produce a fix, which you can find in the forum thread here.
To ensure Media Center Studio continues to work even with future updates it is a good idea to place a shortcut to the application in your system start-up, ensuring the fix is carried out each time your system is started before Media Center loads.

Microsoft updates Windows 7 Media Center
No comments · Posted by James Thorburn in Software
Microsoft today released several non-security related updates to Windows 7 including three related to Media Center.
The February 2010 Windows Media Center Cumulative Update for Windows 7, provides improvements for digital cable card and Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting (ISDB) users, backwards compatibility for some Windows Media Center extensibility applications, and fixes for those using the Hijri calendar.
The second fix, for Extensibility applications that provide TV playback stop responding in Windows Media Center of Windows 7, provides a fix for extensibility applications when there are no TV tuners available to handle a tuning request.
Finally the third fix is an update is available for third-party extensibility applications that start DVD playback in Windows Media Center for Windows 7 , which should help alleviate issues with some DVD applications becoming non-responsive.
With any luck these fixes may help with those porting add-ons from Vista MCE to Windows 7.
