Kylo – 10ft Web Browsing, a video guide
On March 22nd a new web browser launched.
Its not one that’s likely to challenge IE, FireFox, Chrome or Opera in terms of market share, but it is one that should be of great interest to Media Center users.
Since the apparent discontinuation of MCE Browser many Media Center users, particularly those using Windows 7, have been left without a 10ft optimised web browser, but now Kylo has stepped in to fill the void.
Using the Mozilla Gecko rendering engine and created by Hillcrest Labs, Kylo is designed primarily to be used with their own Loop controller, but also works well with a standard mouse.
Hillcrest Labs have also created a custom home page portal providing quick access to many common services.
Of course while Kylo’s front page links are mostly US focused there is nothing to stop you using Kylo for services such as BBC iPlayer in the UK, as it is a fully functional web browser.
Please check out our video guide below for more information.
Update: Hillcrest Labs have contact us to let us know they will be looking to create region specific portals in future versions and what services we’d like to see included. If you have any suggestions please feel free to leave them in the comments and we’ll pass them on.
